Consumer:Ketoacidosis has been reported with the use of sodium glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, such as ertugliflozin. Before initiating therapy with ertugliflozin, it is recommended to consider factors in the patient history that may predispose to ketoacidosis, including pancreatic insulin deficiency from any cause, caloric restriction, and alcohol abuse. Monitor for ketoacidosis and temporarily discontinue treatment in clinical situations known to predispose to ketoacidosis (e.g., prolonged fasting due to acute illness or surgery). Care should be exercised when using this agent in patients at risk of ketoacidosis.
