Consumer:Patients with hepatic impairment may have higher plasma phenylacetate (PAA) and phenylacetate to phenylacetylglutamine (PAGN) ratio due to a reduced conversion capability of PAA to PAGN in the liver. Patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment may require lower dosages of glycerol phenylbutyrate than normal to control the patient's ammonia levels. Caution is recommended in patients with hepatic impairment as no studies have been conducted.
