The use of polyethylene glycol (PEG) solutions is contraindicated in patients with gastrointestinal obstruction, perforation, or toxic megacolon. Use with caution in patients with severe active ulcerative colitis. Increased activity of the gut caused by these agents could worsen these conditions.
