Consumer:Caution should be taken when prescribing abatacept for intravenous administration to diabetic patients as the intravenous formulation of abatacept contains maltose which can give falsely elevated blood glucose readings with certain blood glucose monitors on the day of abatacept infusion. If a patient is using such a monitor, advise the patient to discuss with their healthcare professional methods that do not react with maltose, such as using a different way to monitor your blood sugar levels.
